Cucumber Apple Refresher

Cucumber lends a delicate garden note to apple juice, with lime adding a bright citrus edge. A brief infusion captures the cucumber aroma before the juice joins apple and pomegranate. A thin cucumber ribbon makes a simple finishing touch above the amber fruit pour.

Made with Apple Pomegranate E+

6 min · One 8 fl oz drink · 10 fl oz cylindrical glass

Original recipe by Capt. Solomon D. Crowe

One 2 fl oz E+ bottle + 6 fl oz mixers = one 8 fl oz drink.

The finished drink contains the bottle’s caffeine: 85 mg according to the US product sheet. Dilution changes the concentration, while the total caffeine stays the same. Check your bottle’s current label.

The flavor balance

Apple juice supplies sweetness, while lime contributes acidity. Infusing and straining the cucumber adds a garden aroma without the texture of blended cucumber.

Ingredients

Makes 8 US fl oz · About 237 mL · No ice

  • 1 full 2 fl oz bottle Isagenix E+ Apple Pomegranate, chilled
  • 2 fl oz (1/4 cup) apple juice, chilled; plus 1 tbsp extra of the same juice only for restoring this measured volume after straining, reserving any unused extra separately
  • 0.5 fl oz (1 tbsp) lime juice, chilled
  • About 3.5 fl oz (7 tbsp) cold water; use only enough to bring the finished drink to 8 fl oz
  • 4 thin cucumber rounds, about 1/8 inch thick, for infusion
  • 1 thin cucumber ribbon, about 4 inches long, for garnish

Optional variation — choose before mixing

For less apple sweetness, replace 1 tbsp cucumber-infused apple juice with 1 tbsp cold water. Keep the full 2 fl oz E+ bottle unchanged and the finished liquid at exactly 8 fl oz; make the swap before mixing.

How to make it

  1. 1

Gently press 4 thin cucumber rounds in the measured apple juice, then leave for 1 minute. Strain before adding E+ and measure the infused juice back to 2 fl oz (1/4 cup), topping up with a little more of the same juice if needed.

  2. 2

Combine the measured infused apple juice and measured lime juice in an open measuring jug. Use thoroughly chilled liquids and a chilled glass; do not add ice.

  3. 3

Pour in the entire 2 fl oz bottle of E+ and stir gently to combine. Do not strain or discard any of the mixture after this step.

  4. 4

Add cold water gradually, using about 3.5 fl oz (7 tbsp), and stir gently. Stop at exactly the 8 fl oz liquid mark in the jug.

  5. 5

Pour the full 8 fl oz serving into the chilled 10 fl oz cylindrical glass, without ice. Garnish with 1 thin cucumber ribbon, about 4 inches long. Serve promptly.

Mixologist’s tip: Peel the cucumber first if its skin tastes bitter, and strain the infused juice before adding E+.

Serve alongside: A small hummus and cucumber sandwich.
