Citrus Garden Spritz

Lime sharpens the citrus sweetness, while cucumber and basil lend a cool, green finish. This very pale yellow spritz stays mostly transparent, with soft green hints from the muddled cucumber and a fresh basil aroma above the bubbles.

Ingredients

One glass · US measures

  • 6 fl oz BEA Citrus Sunrise, well chilled (177 mL; ½ of a 12 fl oz can)
  • 3 thin cucumber rounds, for muddling
  • ½ fl oz fresh lime juice (1 Tbsp)
  • 3 fresh basil leaves, divided
  • 1 thin cucumber ribbon and 1 thin lime wheel, for garnish
  • ¾ cup ice cubes

The 6 fl oz of BEA contributes approximately 63 mg caffeine. All other ingredients in this recipe are caffeine-free.

How to mix it

  1. 1

Place 3 cucumber rounds, 2 basil leaves, and the lime juice in the glass.

  2. 2

Press gently with a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon until the cucumber releases a little juice; avoid shredding the basil.

  3. 3

Add the ice, then pour in the chilled BEA Citrus Sunrise last and stir gently once or twice.

  4. 4

Tuck the cucumber ribbon against the glass, add the lime wheel, and place the remaining basil leaf on top. Serve immediately.

The finishing touch

Use thin cucumber rounds so a gentle press releases their juice without making a heavy pulp.

Serve alongside: Lemon chicken skewers
